³⁹ And those who passed by spoke reproachfully and abusively and jeered at Him, wagging their heads,^(A)

⁴⁰ And they said, You Who would tear down the ^[a]sanctuary of the temple and rebuild it in three days, rescue Yourself ^[b]from death. If You are the Son of God, come down from the cross.

⁴¹ In the same way the chief priests, with the scribes and elders, made sport of Him, saying,
